BRC Race Series 2025 Queens 5K

April 2nd was the date of the second event in our race series, with the members heading down the embankment for the Queens 5K. A staple of our series, the race around the river took place in near ideal conditions across both races.

BRC Elite Runners

With everyone eager to pick up some early points, first off were the runners in the race 1. Ciarán came out on top, both with a joint PB and 50 cool points to mark his first event of the year. Joining him in the race were Chris, Áine, Fabrice and Paul. Out of the 5 runners, four ran a PB which is a great sign of the progress in training. Unfortunately for them, none of their times got them second spot, with Chris on 48, Áine on 47, and Fabrice on 46.

Instead it was Jill claiming silver and the 49 points in Race 2. This was tempered however, with her being top of the leaderboard. Last year’s winner, David, received 43 points and currently there are only 10 points between the top 5 places. Aoibhin continued her good form to finish as third female, showing that sometimes marathon training is the best training. Speaking of marathons, Mark and Paul both also achieved PB over the 5k. Maybe there is a method to their madness.

Rounding up the event, and all running great times were Donna, Andrew, Ciaran K, Tommy, David, Paul Mc, Tony, Jonathan, Aaron, Eamon and Vasiliki. This was a super event (when it started on time) and many thanks to the supporters along the route who cheered and took photos/videos.

Next up in the race series is the visit to Montalto parkrun on May 10th . This is usually a very well attended event and a good chance to pick up some points. And if you want some downtime afterwards, you can watch the Irish Milers later that day at Mary Peters track, where you might see a BRC top competing…
