November 30th, and on a deceptively warm day, 12 members from the club descended on Ormeau to take part in the Seeley 10K. The last major race of the year, indeed the last event in the race series, saw the not so dirty dozen run 2.5 laps of the embankment/park.
With points up for grabs, and Ciarán keen on keeping his 100% record (1 race, 1 win) , it was a very competitive race. Ciarán was first past the post, maintaining his record (which now stands at 2 races, 2 wins) before heading home to brush up on his quiz hosting skills. A minute separated him and Callum, with a similar amount the gap between second and Nicky in third. Close times seemed to be the order of the day, with 6 members finishing within 7 minutes of each other.
Seems like the club were lining up to finish the race. Paul, Aidan and Peter were closely followed by Adam, Shaun and Jill as the first female finisher (FFF). Rounding up the race was Donna and Portia (again somewhat close together) with Eamonn completing the set.
Special mention to Eamonn, who completed his second 10k of he day, having earlier ran the Gosford 10k as part of the Born2Run series. Some commitment it has to be said.
All of the above brought an end to a quite close race series which saw a variety of events. In fact places were still up for grabs until the last couple of races. Now…. as to the winner…. you will find out at the AGM….
